The AMX-13 DCA provided forward air defense to French tank battalions, was introduced in 1969, produced to a small number (60) but maintained in service until the end of the cold war.
Development started in the early 1960s, around a new weapons system. The choice was made of the 30 mm Hispano Suiza HSS 831.A. SAMM (turret) Thomson-CSF (radar and fire control system) provided key elements to AMX. The twin 30mm AA self propelled was a highly manoeuverable armoured vehicle for the defense low altitude troops defence within 1000 m.
The design is provided in two versions, one suitable for fdm printing, and a second more suitable for resin printing. The former has separate hull and track assemblies, keyed to each other. The turret radar is also provided as a separate piece, as it is detailed and relatively delicate. The resin version has integrated hull and turret elements, but these are separate to permit rotation of the turret. Solid and hollow hulls are provided to suit resin printing preferences.
The design has been derived from the AMX-13 range that is also available on this site, but is a major redesign of the track assemblies, and is fitted with a new, detailed turret. It should be suitable for printing at larger scales if so desired.
The product is offered for personal, non-commercial use. Derivative designs for personal use may be generated, but neither the original nor derivatives may be shared with others. Attribution of the design is requested should printed models be exhibited or otherwise shared. Models printed from this design or derivatives may not be sold commercially.
